FOR SALE: The Landing Bar and Kitchen at Honeysuckle has hit the market. Hunter Valley vignerons Andrew and Lisa Margan have owned it for the last five years but say they would like to focus their attention on their thriving winery.Diners can expect a changing of the guard at the eastern gateway to Honeysuckle’s entertainmentprecinct.


The Landing Bar and Kitchen has hit the market, listed for sale byHunter Valley vignerons Andrew and Lisa Margan.

The pair have channelled thousands of dollars into the businessover the last five years, but are selling up to focus on their thriving vineyard at Broke.

The building is being sold as either avacant possession or on a number of lease options.

The broader precinct is expected to benefitfrom the opening of the light rail, two university campuses and a $45 million hotel, all within a one kilometre radius.

With thosedevelopments set to bring thousands of additional people to Honeysuckle each day,Mr Margan said they felt the time was right to sell.

“Margan Wines is getting stronger and stronger, managing that is a full time job for both of us,” he said.

“We don’t tend to leave our businesses to other people, we like to be hands on so we know we are providing a certain style and level of hospitality.”

The site was home to Isobar until 2012 when it was purchased by the Margans, in partnershipwith hospitality identities Ty and Julianne Burford.

The Margans bought out the Burfords in 2014.

“I’d like to think…it’s got a good name,” Mr Margan said. “When we took it over it was fairly run down. We did a major fit out.”

Agent Brent Sinclair of Knight Frank described the building as a “blank canvas with all the infrastructure in place”.

“Darby and Beaumont are eat streets but Honeysuckle is the premier dining precinct for sure,” he said.

“In the last 10 years it has been maturing, but this is the time it really comes into its own.”

Slice Virtual Golf

Meanwhile the owners of Slice Virtual Golf are moving on to new greens, havinglisted their business for sale with a price tag of $450,000.

They chose the unorthodox method of posting the announcementon their Facebook page, and co-owner Stuart Dryden said it had “certainly generated a big reaction.”

Three partners have been running the business for three years and are ready to pass it on to a fresh set of hands.

“Basically we decked it out from scratch,” Mr Dryden said. “It’s a ready-made business.”
